How to split a restaurant bill without losing items
A practical guide to agreeing on the split and verifying amounts before closing the table.
Clarify what will be split
Ask whether customers prefer to divide the total equally or assign products to each person. These are different operations: splitting a payment does not always require separate invoices.
Check the table total
Review products, quantities, and charges before starting. Include items added after the first kitchen ticket. The sum of collected amounts must equal the outstanding total.
Record each payment carefully
When several payment methods are used, identify the amount assigned to each. Before issuing tax documents, confirm the customer data and scope of each document.
